Another Asus innovation for its gaming line or ROG, the Asus Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550 laptop. This laptop wants to combine the ROG Zephyrus gaming laptop with the ZenBook Pro Duo series laptop. In our opinion, Asus wants to attract the market for content creators as well as gamers so that both targets can buy this sophisticated laptop that can crush the latest AAA games, but can still support productivity needs.
For the price, this laptop is priced very high, reaching Rp. 100 million. Of course, at that price, the target market is increasingly segmented. Only enthusiast class gamers or content creator sultans can buy this laptop. Maybe for those of you who are still dreaming of owning this laptop, you are quite curious about what is inside this laptop, and wonder in your soul and heart about what makes this laptop very, very expensive. Curious? Follow this sixthgameon article to the end.
Screen and Design of Asus Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550
The Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550 series is arguably the first Asus gaming laptop to use a dual screen. The main screen has a size of 15.6 inches with an IPS panel, 4K resolution (3840 x 2160p), 60Hz refresh rate and is framed with thin bezels.
In addition, the screen on this laptop also carries a 100% Adobe RGB color gamut with a brightness of 400 nits. Plus, the monitor on this gaming laptop from Asus has been validated by Panton so it's perfect for graphic designers, content creators, videographers, and other creative jobs.
Talking about this laptop, of course, don't forget the second screen or what is known as the ROG Screenpad+. This second screen or screenpad comes with an elongated size of 14.1 inches which both carry an IPS panel.
Furthermore, for the resolution, the second screen comes with a resolution of 3840 x 1110p. Not only does the main screen have a 100% sRGB color range, the ROG Screenpad+ also has a color gamut similar to the main screen.
Basically, ROG Screenpad+ has various functions, one of which is to open application windows that are already open on the main screen. You could say this second screen is similar to a dual screen when you use a desktop PC.
In addition, the screens of these two laptops can display streaming applications when users play games. Of course, with the rise of streamers in the world, this laptop really supports this. Why have two screens but not for multitasking. The second screen on this laptop really supports those of you who often do multitasking with more than 2 applications. The final use that the ROG Screenpad+ screen has is for designers to make it easy to draw using a stylus.
For the body, this laptop comes with a Zephyrus-style design, namely with a minimalist design that includes the iconic ROG logo on the left side of the body. The material used for this laptop is metal with a gray color. Meanwhile, for its dimensions, this gaming laptop has dimensions of 36 x 26.8 x 2 cm and also weighs around 2.53 Kg.
Asus Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550 Specifications
This gaming laptop from ASUS comes with two variants with slightly different specifications, namely, the Asus ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550 GX550LWS-HC099T series with an Intel Core i7-10875H processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super Max-Q Design VGA chip. As for the ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 GX550 GX550LXS-HC021R, it is powered by an Intel Core i9-10980HK processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q Design VGA chip.
For today's gaming with 4K resolution, it seems that the specifications, especially the graphics chip specifications are still not powerful. Maybe for the next series Asus can make this series laptop with an RTX 3000 which is good for gaming now.
Especially when faced with games such as Cyberpunk 2077, The Medium, and Control which heavily utilize ray tracing technology. How not, the RTX 3090 alone may not be able to run these games with 4K resolution and run at a frame rate of 60 fps.
Conclusion
Judging from the resolution of the monitor, this laptop is more inclined towards content creation than gaming. Gaming today doesn't seem to really need resolutions up to 4K and even above because 2K or even 1080p resolutions are still used.
Especially now that monitor manufacturers are competing to make monitors with high refresh rates. In addition, for AAA games coming out in late 2020 or early 2021, we think this laptop is not capable enough.
For us, if you want to buy a high-end gaming laptop, it's better to buy the latest Asus ROG series that already uses RTX 3000 which is much cheaper than this laptop. However, if you want to take advantage of technology that supports multitasking or you have too much money, there's nothing wrong with bringing this laptop into your home.
