Nowadays we regularly hear the term Artificial Intelligence or AI. It seems that almost all aspects of our lives have this AI touch. All the posts we see on social media, are currently governed by AI technology. When looking for a route on Google Maps, it also has an element of AI. In essence, all of our lives today have been touched by AI technology.
But many of us may not understand what is artificial intelligence, including how it differs from machine learning, deep learning, and other terms. Well this article will try to explain that definition with examples that hopefully can be understood.
What is Artificial Intelligence
Simply, Artificial Intelligence iscomputer system that can imitate human thinking in completing a job. This AI-based computer system continues to perform its main function, namely counting (remember, the computer comes from the word compute, aka count). But with this AI technology, the ability to count is set to imitate the way human thinking.
To make it easier to understand the meaning of Artificial Intelligence, let's look at the photo of the toilet instructions above. From reading this article, you will understand what it means. The toilets for men are to the left, while the toilets for women are to the right.
You might also pick up on the humor behind the hint. "Women is always right" not only shows the women's toilet to the right, but also the humor that women are always right (or right).
For humans, understanding these clues is relatively easy. But not so with computers. If a computer was given this photo of the toilet instructions, how would they know which was the men's restroom and which was the women's?
Let's fantasize about making software called "Recognizing toilet instructions". The function of this software is to guess which is the men's toilet, which is the women's toilet, just based on a photo from a toilet guide. From this fantasy, we can see how Artificial Intelligence works.
If Software Without AI
If the "Recognizing Toilet Instructions" software is built without AI, the programmer must clearly define how the computer reads the toilet instructions. So roughly the script is "if there is text Men and arrow to the left, it means the men's restroom is on the left".
